With heavy heart we must tell you 
what we have long recoiled from 
that refusing our advice
you have unmasked yourself
doing us all great harm!

Yourself a paltry infant, 
cynical and aggressive, 
you have ignominiously slandered,
clandestinely attacked,
monstrously questioned your elders
and must apologize!

I've been sued
the lawsuitor
follows me 
everywhere, judging me
from behind, indecent 
exposer of my guilt.
I'm innocent!
My lawyer
embezzling my defence 
is the greatest worry:
my Chinese whispers
will never reach the court.

Die Mutter opferte ihr Leben auf.
Und Dank war nie.
Wie könnt ihr glauben, dass sie eure Schuld daran verzieh?

Die Mutter, wenn beleidigt, 
schwieg,
und stand mit allen hier im Krieg.

Worauf man alles für die Mutter tat,
worum sie einen ohne Worte bat.

Die Mutter liebte einen wirklich sehr,
und hasste einen dabei immer mehr.

I wonder how my uncle died

My mother's younger brother,
at 17,
training to be a pilot,
died in a plane crash, 
they told me.
It was to be expected
as, at the end of the war,
everything was breaking.
Later I couldn't but wonder
whether,
as he wasn't shot down,
his fall wasn't connected
to my grandfather 
having done 
the same things 
already to him.
