The battery works Her image in my head goes away. It persists in going away. When it's there it's a battery. Women, by their nature, go away. They seldom come and stay but a short time. Having tasted I hunger for that battery. The going away makes me weaker than before. The faces appear to be different each time, still, the battery works. 2010-05-15 |
2014-02-04; 2016-07-01 |
The old must be excused Once there was a fat old fool laughing at his tiny tool. The tool was smarter yet than he, the giant was too dumb to see, too dumb to hear a little voice that called: don't tread on me, I am alive, I have a brain, it's wrong of you to cause me pain. The fool heard not, kept treading on or took delight in seeming deaf and smiling broadly shouted, - not even so much louder than the little voice - a mock-misunderstanding jolly, gay old man, he shouted: "Tread on you? - I will!" And so he did - and laughed. 2008-05-04 |
The bright appraisers On a hot day four men came into my house, jeering at my new carpet in the hall, chucklingly trampling up the rickety staircase, disdainfully walking over the great room, ticking off "high ceilings which we don't need", boredly staring around the attic (later in their report declaring the entirely unexamined roofing beyond repair), not even bothering to enter my pretty room; good-humoredly stepping out the front door, explaining they would, graciously, not subtract demolition cost from plot value because that would leave me with a negative number, responding to my dumbfounded query whether they had, then, found the whole structure to be unsound with, amidst laughter, the hilarious statement that "we can't look into the walls!" 6.
